Traffic Offences: Drink Driving, Disqualified Driving,

Last week, officers were involved in two separate cases of traffic offences.

Firstly, a Mercedes C Class was seen driving erratically by a suspected disqualified driver who failed to stop for officers. Due to the risk and speed involved, the pursuit was discontinued. The vehicle was later found abandoned under CCTV coverage. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver, with CCTV footage being a critical piece of evidence.

Secondly, the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter van failed to stop at a roundabout and admitted to drinking alcohol. Evidential breath tests showed readings of 59 and 61 micrograms, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms. The driver also provided false details, obstructing officers, and was found to be driving without insurance and not in accordance with a licence. The male was subsequently charged with drink driving, driving without insurance, driving not in accordance with a licence, and obstructing a constable.
